The American Express® Platinum Card is a powerhouse — and right now, some applicants are seeing targeted welcome offers of up to 175,000 Membership Rewards points.
While the standard public offer is often lower, the 175k offer can sometimes be unlocked by opening an incognito or private browsing window if you don’t get that offer when you first click the link and go through the application.

Know Before You Apply
One of the best parts of applying for an Amex card is that you find out if you’re approved before a hard credit inquiry is made. If you’re not approved, your credit won’t be affected.
You want to open the American Express Gold® Card first because you will not usually be approved for it after you open the Platinum.
Bottom Line
Yes, the Platinum Card comes with a high annual fee, but the combination of a huge welcome bonus, premium travel perks, and stackable monthly credits makes it a serious value for the right cardholder.
