The 9 Credit Cards We Have Opened So Far in 2025

We have already earned 1,295,000 million points so far this year. That number even surprised me. They add up quick! We got big bonus cards but they also came with big annual fees this time around ($2,598). Still worth it-especially as many of them have credits to get your annual fee back! (Last year I took $83,000 worth of vacations on points so no, I’m not worried about spending that much in annual fees.)

This is a list of credit cards my husband and I have opened since January. We usually alternate turns opening cards though I open more often than him as I get approved more often for the business cards.

We are both self-employed with LLC businesses that have an EIN. However his business is carrying a balance on the credit cards (which is affecting his approval odds) so I have been applying with his social security number as a sole proprietor for our basement rental property and that is the one he doesn’t get approved as often.

*Note that you don’t need to open cards as often as us. We have been hitting minimum spends quicker lately with some business expenses as well as preparing to move to Spain.

**Also note that most of these are not cards I recommend to people just starting out. You will want to work on flexible use points, not cards stuck with hotels or airlines. I’ll point them out below. Also the bonuses I got were elevated at the time so may not be available when you click the card

January-My husband got the American Express® Business Gold Card-at the time it was a 200,000 targeted elevated offer. I get denied for these cards so he didn’t refer me. I’ll post links on instagram when it elevates again. (This is a flexible points card)

January-I got a business card for 70,000 airline miles. *Some cards I can’t name here but click the link at the bottom to see the list of cards. This is the only airline card besides Southwest that we opened.

February-My husband got the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card to earn the Companion Pass. It was only 30,000 points but he got denied the business card so we had to get this one with the short term Companion Pass promo.

March– I opened the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. Earned 175,000 points. DM for the link!

April-I opened the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card and earned 200,000 points.

May– My husband opened the Business Platinum Card® from American Express and earned 250,000 points. (This is a flexible points card). Targeted offer, will post in IG when it elevates.

May-My husband opened the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless and got 5 night certificates worth 50k each.

July-I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and earned 100,000 points. (This is a flexible points card)

August-I opened the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card and will earn 90,000 points. (This is a flexible points card)
